Mr. Grant H. Shaft
is a shareholder at Grant H. Shaft, PLLC dba SHAFT LAW OFFICE, where he practices in the areas of real estate law and title insurance. He earned his Bachelor of Science from Arizona State University and his Juris Doctor from UND School of Law. Shaft is a North Dakota certified abstractor. He is a fellow with the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, a member of the ND Board of Higher Education, the State Bar of ND (chair of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law section; member of the Title Standards Committee; former officer and member of the Board of Governors); and the Minnesota State Bar and American Bar Association.

Ms. DeAnn M. Pladson
graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 1992. DeAnn began her career as a solo practitioner and joined the Maring Williams Law Office in 1997 and became a shareholder in 2001. In 2010 DeAnn opened her own office, Pladson Law Office, P.L.L.C. and focuses on all areas of family law including mediation, family law litigation, parenting coordination and investigation, and guardian ad litem work for the court. DeAnn is licensed to practice in all state and federal courts in North Dakota and Minnesota. She is a certified family law mediator, parenting investigator and parenting coordinator. DeAnn is a member of the Family Law Section in both Minnesota and North Dakota.

Mr. Joseph A. Wetch Jr.
was born in Bismarck, North Dakota. He graduated from the University of North Dakota (B.A. Magna Cum Laude, 1998) and from the University of North Dakota School of Law (with distinction, 2001). He joined the Serkland Law Firm in 2001 and has been active in litigation matters since that time. He has lectured on the use of medical records in litigation. His areas of concentration are general litigation, school law, commercial litigation, municipal law, medical malpractice defense and insurance law.

Mr. Robert James Carlson
is an attorney with Haynes and Boone, LLP in Houston, Texas. His practice focuses on all areas of commercial litigation, including construction, oil and gas, environmental, and corporate disputes. Robert has represented clients in front of federal and state courts, administrative proceedings, as well as a number of international and domestic arbitral tribunals. Robert has represented clients in a number of multi-million dollar construction disputes in North Dakota arising out of the building boom related to the recent increase in oil and gas activities in the state. Robert has also represented clients in a number of oil and gas disputes in a variety of states. Robert received both his JD and his BA from the Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Ms. Jennifer Leigh Verleger
has been a N.D. Assistant Attorney General providing general counsel and litigation services to the State Engineer and State Water Commission since 2009. During that time she has represented the state on water issues in the U.S. Supreme Court, N.D. Supreme Court, state and federal district courts, and office of administrative hearings in areas including interstate rivers, federalism, water rights, water appropriation, drainage, and sovereign lands. She is a licensed attorney in North Dakota, Michigan, and Florida (inactive). Prior to becoming an attorney, she spent ten years as a practicing civil engineer and is a licensed professional engineer in North Dakota and Michigan. Jennifer chairs the legal committee of the Western States Water Council, an organization of governor-appointed representatives from the western 18 states.

Sigrida Reinis
has 25 years of consulting and academic experience in the areas of construction engineering/management and environmental engineering. Her experience includes providing project management and technical support for complex remediation projects, including properties slated for commercial or residential redevelopment. Dr. Reinis has also provided litigation support for multi-party environmental and construction cases, as well as expert witness services. She has experience in the developed of expert systems as well as expertise in the area of decision analysis, probabilistic cost estimating, and project risk management. Dr. Reinis leads Langan’s Bismarck, North Dakota office.

Mr. Steve Becher
CIC, CPIA is the Executive Director of the Professional Insurance Agents of North Dakota based in Bismarck, ND. Steve started his insurance career in 1990 as a registered representative for Aid Association for Lutherans in Fargo, ND. He then moved to the property/casualty arena in 1991 as an agent for West Fargo Insurance Agency until he was named Agency Manager of Western Insurance, Inc., a start up agency in West Fargo, ND. While at Western Insurance, Steve began with no clients or companies and within 5 years developed the agency into the largest location by volume in the Western operation. He has been active in the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) program since 1992 and obtained his CIC designation in 1995 and his CPIA designation in 2010. Steve is a national facilitator in the CPIA program.

Mr. Nick Stattelman
(PLS, EIT, CFedS) is a Registered Land Surveyor for AE2S, a consulting engineering firm with offices throughout the Midwest. AE2S provides water consulting, site/civil/roadway engineering, structural engineering, electrical engineering, surveying, and mapping. Nick has over ten years of experience in the land surveying field. He has been licensed in the state of North Dakota since 2012 and is also licensed in Minnesota and South Dakota. He is also a Certified Federal Surveyor and is currently the Survey Practice Leader for AE2S.

Mr. Mark Seel
has over twenty-five years of experience in geotechnics on projects throughout the United States and overseas. His engineering expertise includes assessment and mitigation of geologic hazards; development and supervision of subsurface investigations and desk top studies; design development of soil and rock slope stabilization systems, including excavation support & blasting; design and controlled inspection of ground improvement for foundation construction and deep foundations; design of trenchless pipeline installations; and, engineering forensics.
