2013 Fundamentals of Law Webinar: Affordable Care Act Overview

In 2010, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA, “health care reform,” or “ObamaCare”) became law. Over the last three years, elements of the law have come into effect. The most significant element of the law - individuals' opportunity and eventual requirement to enroll in health insurance - began Oct. 1, 2013. This presentation will provide an overview of the law, a brief review of the individual mandate, and perspectives employers will need to consider.

Ms. Kristi Schlosser Carlson
Kristi Schlosser Carlson is the General Counsel and Director of Government Relations for North Dakota Farmers Union, Farmers Union Service Association, and Farmers Union Mutual Insurance Company. She graduated from UND with a B.S. in political science and from the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis. She is licensed in North Dakota and Minnesota.
Ms. Lisa Marie Six
Lisa M. Dynneson is an Associate in the Williston office for Crowley Fleck PLLP. Ms. Dynneson interned with Crowley Fleck PLLP for two summers during her law school tenure, which provided a practical work experience. During her first year of practice, Ms. Dynneson has focused her work on all types of litigation, including civil and commercial litigation. Ms. Dynneson graduated summa cum laude from the University of North Dakota in December of 2008 with a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice Studies. She received her Juris Doctorate with highest honors from Drake University Law School in May of 2012, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif.
Lance Boyer
Lance Boyer is the Financial Products Manager for Farmers Union Insurance in Mandan. Lance started his career in the insurance industry in 1990 as an agent, advancing to the position of sales manager and trainer for a regional agency before joining Farmers Union. He specializes in marketing life, health, Medicare, annuity and workplace benefits products.
