This extended webinar will discuss legal principles related to oil and gas law including the nature of ownership, conveyances of interests, common title defects and cures, probate requirements, and other issues. This webinar will serve as a great introduction to lawyers seeking more understanding of a growing area of law in North Dakota. The webinar will also serve as a basic refresher for those lawyers who have experience in this practice area.

Speakers:
Mr. Christopher Douglas Friez
Christopher Friez graduated from the UND School of Law in 2005. Following graduation from law school, Chris served for one year as law clerk to the Honorable Gerald W. VandeWalle, Chief Justice of the North Dakota Supreme Court. He is a partner with Crowley Fleck PLLP in Bismarck. Chris practices primarily in the natural resources area, with a major focus on oil, gas, coal and other energy. He has extensive experience in title examination and has prepared numerous drilling title opinions and division order title opinions. He also maintains a busy probate practice along with real estate transactional work and other commercial work.
Ms. Bekki Weldon Grant
Bekki Weldon (moderator) is a 2009 graduate of the Gonzaga University School of Law where she graduated with honors. Bekki served as an Associate Editor and Election Committee Chairperson for Gonzaga Law Review. After law school, she spent two years in private practice in Missoula, Montana, where her practice consisted of criminal defense work, workers’ compensation matters, and plaintiff’s litigation. Currently, Bekki serves as a member of the Young Lawyer Section’s Education and Professionalism Committee. Bekki is an associate at the Ebeltoft . Sickler Law Firm in Dickinson and concentrates her practice within the Litigation Solutions Team and Business Solutions Team and also manages the firm’s criminal prosecution contract.
