Speakers:
Ms. Sherry Wetsch
Ms. Wetsch is a 1984 graduate of the University of North Dakota School of Law. She is licensed to practice law in Texas, North Dakota and Missouri. She started her legal career as an attorney for the United States Department of the Army, and she has extensive experience in both the public and private sectors. Since 1996, Ms. Wetsch’s practice has centered on Alternative Dispute Resolution. Ms. Wetsch has served as a third party neutral on thousands of cases, in both private and government settings and involving issues pertaining to labor and employment, construction, real estate tax appraisals, commercial law, consumer law, personal injury, defamation, securities, and debtor/creditor relations.
Mr. Peter D Welte
Peter has served as the elected State’s Attorney in Grand Forks County since 2002. He received his undergraduate degree in Agricultural Economics from N.D.S.U. in 1989 and his Juris Doctorate, with distinction, from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 1997. He is presently an Adjunct Instructor of Agricultural Law and of State and Local Government Law at the U.N.D. School of Law. Mr. Welte has presented numerous CLE programs on topics including North Dakota’s domestic violence laws, the Juvenile Drug Court, and ethical considerations for prosecutors in media-related issues. Mr. Welte has twice presented at the North Dakota Attorney General’s Meth Summit.
Mr. Alan Austad
Alan is the Executive Director of the North Dakota Association for Justice. Prior to joining the NDAJ in 2007 he represented a wide variety of organizations at the state and national level for over 35 years and has appeared before local, state and national legislative and regulatory bodies.
