A Note From Roger Minch

We are about to enter the coldest week on average and wouldn't you know it that there are cold fronts on the way to make it even worse. What a time to think about Las Vegas for the 4th Annual Sun and CLE March 17 and 18 sponsored by your State Bar Association.

We have commitments from two fine attorneys who practice in Las Vegas to help with the CLE at the Bellagio. The first is Colleen Rice who is counsel for Nevada Power.  She used to practice in Moorhead with the Gunhus Firm.  She will speak about the care and feeding of house counsel.  That will help with general client relations as well.  She will also likely speak about her experience with a very big time electric utility, rates and public service commissions.

The second is John Mowbray, a former president of the Nevada State Bar Association.  John will speak about multi jurisdictional issues, Nevada Bar Association admission practices and challenges, but best of all, his personal experience with the MGM Grand fire litigation and its impact on the law, and fire codes.  This was the biggest time litigation and I know you will be fascinated by this presentation.

There will be many other fine speakers too, including Judge Doug Herman and Sarah Andrews Herman on employment law.  They gave their joint presentation last year in Cabo San Lucas and it was the best CLE I have ever attended on the subject or any other subject.  Judge Herman was counsel to Great Plains Software through its acquisition by Microsoft and Ms. Herman represents some of the largest employers in the area.  You can't miss this!

So forget the cold and make your plans.  You will never regret the things you did as much as the things you did not.  And remember what a great place Las Vegas is.  And it is a jumping off place for the great southwest.  See you there.
