Responding to requests from several members, your Board of Governors announces the formation a new Elder Law Section of your Bar Association to address the needs of members practicing in this booming area of the law. An organizational meeting is planned at the SBAND Annual Meeting in Grand Forks, June 11, 12 and 13. Anyone interested may contact Judith Howard’s secretary, Mitzi Sundheim, at msundheim@srt.com.

The Office of the State Court Administrator requests lawyers' help in facilitating family law mediation services by providing parties' mailing addresses in initial filings in custody and visitation cases and motions in the Northeast Central and South Central Judicial Districts.

Several of you have contacted the Bar Association about your experience with the "new" jury questionnaire being used by clerks' offices to qualify potential jurors for possible jury duty. That questionnaire is the work product of the Jury Standards Committee, and was designed to obtain only the information authorized by statute. The Jury Standards Committee will be meeting April 26 to hear concerns and suggestions about the questionnaire. If you have suggestions or comments you may send them to committee staff Jim Ganje at JGanje@ndcourts.gov, or to committee chair District Judge Joel Medd at JMedd@ndcourts.gov. The Committee will appreciate your constructive input.
