Dear Colleagues, As a Friend of the North Dakota Bar Foundation, you have the opportunity to play a vital role in funding these worthy projects. The NDBF recognizes that it can and must do more – but we need your help. Throughout its history, the State Bar Association has been guided by a strong sense of responsibility to improve our profession by advancing justice, improving public education about the law, and encouraging public service and legal professionalism. To facilitate that commitment, a small group of bar leaders banded together in 1983 to develop a true charitable arm for the North Dakota legal community, the North Dakota Bar Foundation. Twenty years later, we remain excited about how far we have come, and the impact we have had on the people of North Dakota. We are, however, convinced that our greatest accomplishments are still ahead. Today, interest in the legal system is extremely high. It is important we act as a profession to provide accurate and relevant information to the public. The Foundation funds programs to meet this need. The NDBF also actively supports the UND Law School and provides scholarships to law students. As members of the North Dakota legal profession, we are blessed. And for most of us, the profession has provided generously for our families and our quality of life. In honor of our 20th anniversary, we are urging you, if you have not already joined, to become a Friend of the North Dakota Bar Foundation. If you are already a member, please consider an additional gift. Please consider joining the Foundation at one of the giving levels described in our brochure and support the Foundation of our profession! Lisa J. Wheeler, President, NDBF Bill Neumann, Secretary-Treasurer, NDBF P.S. Rule 6.1 of theNorth Dakota Rules of Professional Conduct provides that a lawyer may discharge the responsibility to render public interest legal service “by financial support for organizations that provide legal services to persons of limited means.” |
